In order to provide greater sales support and service to the UK and European water markets, YSI Environmental acquired Hydrodata Sevices (UK) Ltd. on 31st October 2003.

Founded in 1991 in Letchworth, Hertfordshire, Hydrodata has been an exclusive distributor of YSI multiparameter water quality instruments since 1997. The company distributes YSI products to the UK freshwater market; it also provides repair service and support to YSI's network of European sales partners and customers.

The new company, now called YSI Hydrodata, has increased its training and systems installation capabilities as well as become a sales and support centre for YSI SonTek, a YSI Environmental company.

SonTek products provide complementary water quantity monitoring capabilities – such as flow, velocity, and depth – to YSI's water quality monitoring capabilities.
