A YSI Foundation Grant Will Help Others to “Mind the Planet”
According to the United Nations, by 2050 at least one out of four
people is likely to live in countries affected by chronic or recurrent
shortages of freshwater. To address the growing scarcity of clean
water around the world, YSI Incorporated’s non-profit Foundation
is offering a new Minding the Planet grant for $10,000.
Since 1990 the YSI Foundation has donated funding and equipment
to environmental organizations seeking to preserve natural habitats
and resources. With the new Minding the Planet grant, the Foundation’s
outreach to these groups will become formalized through an application
and review process.
“We’re excited to launch the Minding the Planet grant
this year,” states Susan Miller, YSI Foundation President.
“It puts into action YSI’s commitment to ecological
sustainability and it will introduce to us many passionate people
who seek assistance with projects that protect the planet.”
The Foundation encourages non-profit, non-governmental organizations
from around the world to apply for this grant. Examples of the types
of projects that are eligible for funding:
- Preservation, restoration, and/or remediation of water systems
- Restoration of polluted watersheds
- Addressing impacts caused by climate change
