Introduces the 6136 Turbidity+ Sensor for 6-series instruments
In the interest of providing the users of YSI technology with the
most accurate, reliable, and easy to use water quality monitoring
technology, YSI announces the new 6136 wiped turbidity sensor.
Extensive empirical field and lab tests performed by YSI as well
as by independent agencies in Alpha and Beta studies, document close
agreement between in-situ measurements made with the YSI 6136 turbidity
sensor and data from the Hach 2100AN: a laboratory instrument recognized
as the standard for turbidity measurement.
Primarily, the new sensor is being offered to customers for three
reasons:
 |
 |
The extremely close agreement with the Hach
2100AN. Many of our customers desire this improved agreement
with the industry standard. |
 |
 |
 |
The 6136 turbidity sensor has less noise
and thus provides smoother more reproducible readings and greater
accuracy at low turbidity levels than the current 6026 turbidity
sensor. |
 |
 |
 |
The reliability of the sensor has been increased
by improving the seals against leakage and by implementing a
more robust motor/gearbox preventing premature wiper failure. |
 |
The agreement between in-situ turbidity measurements and measurements
made
by commonly accepted laboratory technology has been a source of
concern for investigators responsible for gathering turbidity data,
especially for compliance and enforcement applications.
The 6136 is a fouling-resistant, wiped sensor providing highly accurate
in-situ measurement of turbidity in fresh, brakish and sea water.
The 6136 sensor will attach to any 6-series sonde with an optical
port and the latest software version 2.17 without the need to return
your instrument to the service centre.
