New Office for Water Monitoring in the Middle East

YSI has seen demand for its products in the Middle East grow rapidly in recent years as a result of increasing concern for the protection of water resources.

The company’s products -- ranging from a simple laboratory dissolved oxygen meter to a multiparameter water quality and flow monitoring network of buoys providing real-time data via telemetry to a central base station -- meet almost any water monitoring need.

Commenting on the recent growth in their business, YSI Senior Vice President Gayle Rominger says, “We have seen the greatest increase in demand in the Middle East from those organisations that are responsible for the protection of the aquatic environment. To meet this need we have invested in a new Bahrain office that will be responsible for all of our customers in the region. I am delighted to announce that Hassan al Salem, chosen after we conducted an extensive recruitment campaign, will manage the new office. Hassan has worked in the water quality field for over 10 years and brings a wealth of experience to the market. He has completed a comprehensive training programme on YSI water monitoring products and services and is looking forward to helping our customers choose the most appropriate monitoring equipment for their applications.”

YSI Incorporated is well-known around the world for its commitment to environmental stewardship. Hassan notes that this is one of the reasons he is pleased to join YSI and adds, “There are many areas in the Middle East where the environment is under threat, and I am very excited about the monitoring solutions that YSI can offer. We have already found applications within a wide variety of sectors, including aquaculture, industry, municipalities, environmental protection agencies, and desalination plants.”
